2014

I would like to wish HAPPY NEW YEAR! I know it's late but nowadays I was busy to write here.
The beginning of the year was very calm but now it's getting busier and busier.
Of course, I continue to improve my English and since i have found Memrise..I always do some exercise in Arabic what is soo excellent :-) I learn some new Arabic words every day.I have never thought that i will love Arabic language and I don't know where it came from...this idea to learn it..but i love..however ..it sometimes very hard and i was a little bit mad to choose the one of hardest language in the world.

I can't say I'm good at German but i understand what i have already studied what wasn't soo much :-/  I feel soo beginner myself haha and sometimes i get lazy and I stop for a while.I know it's the worst but German is difficult and I wanted to give up but it would be a bad decision so i try to do till i have energy :-D :-) and French is very nice, elegant and good to learn as a hobby because now it's not so important in my life although i would like to study seriously in the future :-)

The most important still the English because it would be great to do an advanced language certificate in English. :-) speak fluently because most of people understand each other very well in English.

So these 4 languages would be my dream. ^_^ These are nice, useful and world languages :-) I hope i can reach a higher level this year.

Australian slang

Australian slang is colourful, and often funny. Australian slang can also be a complete mystery to most people not born here.

Well.. I have found some expressions what is used at Aussie people :-D

So if you want to travel to Australia you can try it. ;-) or I'd say  you can "give it a go" :-)

It's not that difficult to learn to understand Australian slang. You just have to“back yourself”. This means to believe in yourself, so to believe that you can do something.

When you first meet an Australian, he or she might ask you, “How's it goin'?” This means, “How are you?”You can answer by saying something like,“Good, mate,”if you're a man,or you could say,“Not too bad,” or just respond like you normally would when someone asks how you are.

After you've talked to that Australian for a while, they might ask you to come to the pub. When we say,“Let's grab a drink,” it means,“Let's go to the pub and drink some alcohol.”If they drink "a cold one" that's the beer :-)

If something goes wrong and you don't understand what somebody is saying, don't “make a fuss”, which means to worry.

If somebody talk a lot and you get angry and you don't want to continue this talking you can say "Belt up!" or "Pull ya head in" or if you are so agressive :-D you can say "I will job you!" meaning is I will hit you if you wont leave me alone haha

If something is true you can say "Bloody oath!" ..hmm i have never tried it :-D

If somebody say "G'day Cobber" it means welcome my close friend.

If you having a blue  you have argument.

If you have cold or flu they say "I got the wog" and if you're very tired you're "nackered."

So Australian people are not so strange if you learn a little bit slang :-D cuz they speak English :)

An English book

i have found a book ...i think it's interesting...a story.
I have decided i want to improve my vocabulary in English so i have to read more books in English and not in my native language. :-) it's sometimes hard but people always can learn new words or expressions.

The name of the book is Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens.

For almost two years now, Kiera's boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she's ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart.

Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he's purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes...and none of them will ever be the same.

Food expressions in daily life

I guess it's good who study English because English people know these expressions :-)
I want to write down some because i realized that i haven't heard some expression me either and it was interesting these things :-)
So let's start! ;-)

Cucumber:You might say a person is as cool as a cucumber if he never seems to worry about anything and stays calm in a stressful situation.

Pickle:If you are in a pickle , you are in trouble or a difficult situation.

Peas:If two people are very similar, you might say they are like two peas in a pod.

Bean:If someone is very energetic, you might say she is full of beans.
you don't know beans about a subject if you do not know anything at all about it.you spill the beans , you tell something that was supposed to be a secret.

Potato:You probably would not want to hold a hot potato in your barehands.  This also means a problem or issue that noone wants to deal with. Someone might call you a couch potato if you sitand watch television all day.

Banana:if you go bananas , you are wild with excitement or worry.

Lemon:here is an expression about lemons that we like: If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. This means you should always try to make the best of a bad situation.

Cake:If you say something is a piece of cake , it means something is really easy, like a test you take in school. Cakes are often covered with a sweet topping, called icing. Icing on the cake means something good that happens in addition to another good thing.
Hotcakes are also called pancakes. If a new product is popular and selling well, you might say itis selling like hotcakes .
But if a friend of yours did something bad, you might stop being friends with him immediately or drop him like a hotcake .

Pie:If something is easy to do, you could sayit is easy as pie.
If you have an idea or plan that is not really possible, someone might say itis pie in the sky.
But if you do something wrong or bad, you might have to apologize and show you are sorry. In other words, you might have to eat humble pie.

Milk:There is no use crying over spilled milk. That means you should not get angry when something bad happens and cannotbe changed.

Egg: My mother was a good egg . She would always help anyone in need.

One man's meat is another man'spoison . In other words, one person might like something very much while another person might hate the same thing.

Successful presentation ^__^

Today I was at the uni where i had to perform a presentation what I made with PowerPoint :-)
My topic was the left-handed people :-) It was a very interesting theme to me because I'm left-handed and people don't know a lot of facts about lefties.

I was happy after my presentation because i got 5 what is the best mark in my country :-) I guess i thank to my summer training because i was tourist guide although at first i was a little bit nervous :-)
Among the facts there was an interesting facts. "Lefties can learn languages easier" oh and because they are felt-handed they can be suvvessful from right to left languages as Hebrew or Arabic :-) well...I think it's great and I like to write Arabic letters, words, sentences what i have learnt.

In my final exam I have to make an other presentation in English about a company what i choose.I hope i will be successful ,too :-)

Polyglot and the bad experience -_-

I believed I can find some good friend or people who can help me but I am disappointed.I found two girls who are very normal but the others can't reply.
I tried to chat but that was terrible..Generally girls don't like to talk to girls and the boys are very pushful and they are not there to help people.I think everybody know what i mean.
I tried to join to virtual classes there but people weren't friendly. They spoke with each other for 5 minutes and after that they said good bye.
i think polyglot is better if you want to correct your writing and not to know people.

i think i expected too much from the site :-) but it's ok.

Perhaps people could make friends there.I don't know because i couldn't ask anybody.I was unsuccessful.I delete myself and i think it won't be my best of site where i tried to improve my English or German.

I joined to polyglot

I joined to polyglot for 3 days.
I would have tried because it seems interesting.
Till this I couldn't try everything on the site but it seems useful.I have written some emails to different people.Unfortunately i haven't got reply yet.I hope i will.
In addition, I could help a girl who learn English and we talked via Skype.I spoke with her for 30-40 minutes because in my country was a very big storm and my internet connection was very wrong :-/
I hope i will get more opportunity to improve my speaking skill and i also hope i can help people if somebody learn hungarian :-)

3 methods to maintain the acquired learning.

Hey everybody who read this little blog :-D

Today I want to talk about methods what i use to maintain my language learning :-)
I think everybody has a tip.I use these methods :-)

1-PASSIVE input language

Turn on the TV or radio in the background, and things are going. :-)) Passive because I do not have to actively pay attention to the text.Words / phrases, sometimes whole sentences catch you next time so you can easily recognize. That's good to do during washing, chatting, training or when you use Facebook :-)
Let the subconscious do his job.

2-I always watch series or movies

I enjoy it so much because I can see the progression :-)

When I have watched movie in English, I totally didn't understand anything so i was sad :-D I decided to watch movies at first with subtitles and after that in my mother tongue.
It took a lot of time I know but i think it's very useful.
Moreover since i listen podcasts or conversations on Lingq I have started to understand better the movies.
Yesterday I watched a movie and i really enjoyed but i already don't use subtitle.

Here is this movie trailer what i watched yesterday if you're interested in.

3-I read books.
well...I use Penguin and Oxford books what was made for learners. There are different kind of levels so you can choose your level :-) I think it's very good mainly if you like to read. You can choose a lot of book what is good for you.

Simple, but great - don't complicate too!

A hungarian man wrote this article who wants to learn 5 languages in 5years and now I will translate here some part.

"The problem

There are many people that have reached a certain level of language, they know all the inflections and tense, even in the Webster's dictionary editors by offered also by little-known words cut from gut, and even they are able to speak-but somehow feel they can not express themselves. They can not express themselves well.. Unnatural feel of their own speech and hate themselves heard. In a new company or, where the language is mediated by?  I'd rather not even say "stupid things" to speak ,furthermore it's incorrect. Sound familiar?

The helping hands

I made two very good friends Russell and Matthew. The first days I was alone as my little finger (even i was the only non-Australian people at the company), I looked around quickly what kind of social safety net i can weawe. The two gentleman I knew at first glance that they can be sure to consume a pint or two of beer. I wanted a company awfully with similar mindset, say friends.

Russell spoke beautifully and elaborately but use a lot of slang, Mat used slang in more than Russell. But I knew even then that language is just a bridge, a device - you're learning a language is to know the other person. This is the bridge had to build as quickly as possible, to retain their company.First of all, I cheated, where I could - I did it as if I understand - and Mat 240 words / minute tempo I was happy when I caught keywords and context to understand what he wanted to say.Of course, sometimes came down I had no idea what you're talking about, then there was the time to ask, "So, you're saying that ..." and repeated it on your own, doe, my simple words.

Redrafted my own.Interact was every day.Of course, not only to listen and to understand, but also had to respond and react to certain situations and things. Here we arrive to the message of the main story, the man with simple words and phrases perfectly express yourself. It is more important to know, say, 999 words and concatenate them fluently than, say, 9,999 words passively, from which the good life can not be put together in a meaningful sentence because  the compnay will change direction three times when you have been thinking how you can use the words.

The old saying applies here too: not the quantity but the quality counts!

Know less, but it is definitely and precisely!

It also was the result:we became national friends and hung out a lot together if they are not, then I do not know what would have happened to me out there. Of course, many times when I felt that "I could say this better and nicer," but the conditions that have no chance of this, there was no time.So I've learned to think in English and react. To do this, I had to admit exactly that what devices they use - and this was the fact that I've heard a lot of talk them.

Experiences and Conclusions

Observations and experience: immediately stop the worrying that "you do not talk very well and nicely" and just talk. Speak easy, but right.Learn how to easily express yourself.
Slang? If you do not live in that country, ask yourself this question: do you need? No.What for? And if you get out a couple of weeks / months to pick yourself. For the time being not to overload yourself with it. Only gradually nicely. Learn the basics well and correctly. The following video shows just that:

English

I have found a book about English learning...a Cambridge book.

I have found different levels i want to try the upper-intermediate and low-advanced level and advanced levels.
I want to see this book because it's based on vocabulary learning.
I hope it will be useful for me.

I told about my studies (Canada, Australia) well...I couldn't take my exams because of the lot of snow and here was no good transport so I choosed another date.
I have to learn ...it's another topic: the headlines.
Well...it was quite difficult to understand because i didn't know "headline words" what can be useful but i suffered :-D

http://www.isabelperez.com/module4_tesis/headlines.htm

I have found a site where is some headline words with meaning.I haven't learnt the all but it's useful in any time if I don't know something.

Moreover, I realized  that it's so hard to speak with American or Canadian friends because when i am on Skype , they aren't because of the time zones I guess but i don't know exactly.
I know i have busy days when i can't go on but one a week...that would be great and I'd tell what happened to me etc.
Soo it's hard although i want so much!

I don't know who is in the same situation but it's so humping.

My German and English progress and what I use :-)

Actually I studied German in primary school and in high school but I didn't study the lessons because it was must to do. :-D

Now I can use an old book.Hungarian-German language book.It was written by Dr. Ernst Häckel. It's good for me because there are tasks and text to read and lot of words.I don't know there is English version.
My one friend said it's hard for a beginner but it's good for me at the moment.

I plan that I will review my German high school books because there are different kind of topics, too.

I studied English in high school and at a private teacher...now I got the English Language Certificate in intermediate level and now I want to reach the advanced level. However I know I should practise more the speaking.

One of good method to learn German and English is THE LINGQ language learning method.
It's a great site where I can improve my German and English skills mainly the speaking, listening and reading skills.
I think it help me dramatically increase my vocabulary in German and also in English.

There are different kind of topics, lessons. You have to choose the language what you're interested in and choose a lesson. You can open this lesson....read and listen and if you don't know the wordsm phrases you can save with meaning.

You can choose many languages. There are 21 languages if I know well. You just have to register.

Now I listen every day German and  English lessons, podcasts or situations and I realised that my hearing and my comprehension get better more and more.I was suprised but I think  if somebody want to learn one or more languages it's an amazing way to do.

Steve Kaufmann made Lingq and it's so useful.
He said this:

"Until I was 17 I only spoke English. I had studied French for 10 years in school but I could hardly say a thing. It was then that I realized I would never learn using traditional methods. So I developed my own methods for language acquisition, which you can now use to learn English online.

I speak nine languages fluently and I'm working on my 10th! My ability to speak many languages has brought me much personal success and enjoyment. My system will help you dramatically increase your English vocabulary so that you don't just learn to speak English but you learn to speak English well!

Everyone is capable of becoming fluent in a second or third or ninth language! I will show you how to unlock the ability all humans possess to communicate in whatever language they choose. My system works! I have proven it and our LingQ Members continue to prove it every day.

I don't have a magic potion or a secret formula but I have developed the most efficient way to learn languages and it doesn't include classrooms and memorizing grammar rules. All you need is the desire to communicate and the right system. The Lingq System!"

If you want to register ..Click here:
